Tryout Sessions Day 3

Posted Saturday, August 24, 2013 by Coach Wood
Day 3 is in the books, and with that we wrap up the "tryouts" phase of our season.  We are now in full preseason mode, and we will kick that off with tomorrow's inaugural Orange-Black Game.  As we transition from skill work and conditioning to more field time and scrimmaging, we (as a coaching staff) certainly have our work cut out for us.  The amount of data gathered, drills run, and observations of the girls are going to lead to some very exciting decisions.
Today the coaches discussed our expectations for scrimmaging, as we move into our exhibition match tomorrow, followed by Longmeadow and Agawam next week.  We also discussed our expectations for varsity players, highlighting the need for top skills, combined with great attitude and full effort.
Our work today consisted of going over our extensive running/stretching warmup routine and some partnered ball work passing, we then transitioned into some 2v1, 2v2, 7v7, and finished it up with our first look at the girls in an 11v11 format.
I want to continue to thank all the parents for their support and assistance.  Preseason can be hectic with injuries, paperwork, physicals, and differing practice times.  It's a testament to the parents how well our girls have dealt with this all.  I could not have asked for a smoother transition this past week.  Thank you.
I hope to see everyone tomorrow afternoon (3:30) at our kickoff scrimmage event.  Please feel free to come up to me before or after the game and introduce yourselves or present any questions, comments, or feedback.
